Matt Steier is Director of VanRock Commercial Real Estate specializing in retail and industrial investment sales and leasing throughout New Jersey and the greater New York market. He advises property owners, investors, and tenants on pricing, positioning, and transaction strategy.

Matt brings over a decade of experience in real estate valuation and underwriting, beginning his career in appraisal work focused on tax appeals in Northern New Jersey, followed by early experience in investment sales at Marcus & Millichap. He later developed expertise in financial reporting and transaction-related valuation through his time at Deloitte, where he supported valuation and advisory engagements including appraisal audit reviews, purchase price allocations, and due diligence for institutional clients.

At Altus Group, he was a Manager overseeing appraisal and advisory services across office, medical office, retail, industrial, multifamily, self-storage, and data center assets, where he prepared appraisals and discounted cash flow models, reviewed third-party valuation reports, and worked directly with institutional clients, portfolio managers, and asset managers to support market-based valuation and portfolio decision-making.

He leverages this analytical background to provide clients with a data-driven approach to leasing and investment sales, helping ensure accurate pricing and effective deal execution.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Seton Hall University and is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in New Jersey.
